Navigation Skills – NNAS Silver Navigator Award

This practical 2 day course ( 29th and 30th June 2024) will give you the skills and confidence to navigate in open country, both on, and away from, paths and tracks. The majority of the time is spent on the hill, “hands on” with a map and compass learning about contours and landforms, compass bearings, measuring distance using timing and pacing and navigating in poor visibility. You’ll also get chance to discuss approriate clothing and equipment , and think about emergency procedures.

It is based in the village of Austwick, near Settle , in the Yorkshire Dales .
