Walk & Talk Wednesday
Walk & Talk sessions are all about getting out and about to aid those who are dealing with mental and physical health problems. For some people, tasks like getting out of bed and going for a walk are an achievement in themselves. Loneliness stems from feeling like you can’t get up, can’t be bothered to go for a walk. M2C walks & talks on a 1:1 basis get people out to have a chat while we walk, we’re all coaches/mentors and very good listeners. Small goals can lead to big personal achievements
What are these walks & what do they achieve?
From a safe space or convenient meeting point, get out into nature, it can be a local park, footpath or any form of green space. Change the daily routine by walking and talking or more importantly spending time with a coach/mentor who listens and takes an interest. Take the rush and pressure out of life, put one person centre stage to facilitate calm and clarity. A time to share positive mindset and the benefits of movement.
These 1:1 walks may be extended by pairing people or creating small walking groups of like-minded people. This is an opportunity to meet others and build support networks to grow their own relationships and break the cycle of isolation. They’ll walk, talk and work through things together. Some people will undertake 1:1 walks as a stage before building confidence to go on to our Walk 2B Social groups.
Intention
To help improve mental and physical health within communities. To create safe spaces to walk and talk with one of M2C active change makers initially, and then possibly, with other people who may be experiencing similar problems – therefore empowering participants to become the change makers themselves.
